A County Durham school has been badly damaged after quantities of lead were stolen from roof.
The incident happened at Our Lady & St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Consett while it was closed.
There is "significant damage" internally due to rain coming into the building and the school has got to pay expensive repair costs.
The police are asking anyone with information to get in touch.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Our Lady & St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, in Consett, has had quantities of lead stolen from its roof recently while the school has been closed.

"This has resulted in significant damage internally to the school from rain damage, and the school is now facing costly repairs.
"Officers are asking the public to be extra vigilant of any suspicious activity in the area, especially when the school is closed.
"Anyone with information regarding the theft can contact PC 9625 Heslop on 101, quoting incident reference number 272 of October 17 or email carl.heslop2@durham.police.uk"
