A paedophile has been locked up for 13 years following a string of sexual offences against children.

Stephen Taylor of Middlesbrough has been put behind bars following a string of offences over several years.

Following a report, an investigation was launched by Cleveland Police’s specialist Children and Vulnerable Adults (CAVA) team and the 49-year-old was arrested and charged with 17 offences.

Stephen Taylor from Middlesbrough.Stephen Taylor from Middlesbrough. (Image: CLEVELAND POLICE) He was charged with four counts of controlling or coercive behaviour, 12 counts of sexual activity with a child, causing a child to watch a sex act and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

At Teesside Magistrates’ Court on August 19, he admitted all 17 offences and he was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.

Today, October 18, Taylor was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Investigating officers, PC Henry and DC Pugh said: “Today, Stephen Taylor has been sentenced for his horrific crimes which will no doubt have a lasting impact on his victims.

“He now faces a lengthy time in prison to reflect on what he had done. I sincerely hope today’s result will bring the victims a degree of comfort.

“Our teams of specially trained officers will always do everything in their power to bring perpetrators before the courts. If someone is ready to report something to us, we are here and we will listen to you.”
