A man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was found with injuries following a suspected shooting earlier this week.
Stephen Thompson, 50, of Proctor Street, Newcastle has been charged with multiple offences following the incident in the Headlam Green area of Byker.
Emergency services attended the scene on Wednesday (October 16) where they found a man with injuries consistent with having been caused by a firearm.
Armed police officers and police search dogs were spotted at the scene.
The man in his 40s was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Thompson will now appear before magistrates sitting in Newcastle tomorrow (Saturday) charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a bladed article and having a corrosive substance in a public place.
Officers remain in the Headlam Green area to carry out enquiries and offer reassurance to the public.
