Yarm High Street was taken over by wild rides, flashing lights, and the mouth-watering smell of fried onions as the annual fair returned for 2024.

The popular event, which dates as far back as 1207, kicked off on Thursday (October 17) evening for the first of three nights, with hundreds of thrill-seekers flocking to the town.

Whether they were braving some of the adrenaline pumping rides, taking on hook-a-duck, or just tucking into some candy floss, adults and children alike were pictured lapping up the bustling atmosphere on Thursday.

This year's fair saw many of the popular rides return, including the ever-popular crazy frog, the ‘crazy shake’ spinning bowl, the ‘rhythm dancer’ and ‘insania’ (also known as the miami), the ‘exciter’ and the ghost train.

There was also a range of children's rides for the little ones, including an ice-themed mini rollercoaster, several fun houses, bumper cars, and ‘toy town’ themed tea cups.

Here's a gallery of pictures from the fantastic event - showing families having a blast on the bumper cars, screaming their way around the waltzers and taking their best shot at a make-shift shooting range.
