The North East is set to benefit from two new holiday destinations in Sweden and Slovakia following an announcement from Jet2.

The airline has announced that it will be launching city breaks to Malmo and Bratislava for the winter season in 2024/25.

Flights will be available from Newcastle International Airport.

From November 21 to December 22, 2024, flights to Vienna Airport will be operating twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. From there, customers can take a short trip over the border to Bratislava.

"Bratislava and Malmo are fantastic festive destinations, and we are expecting these new holidays to be popular with both customers and independent travel agents.

"We are always listening and reacting to feedback from holidaymakers, and this latest expansion of our Christmas markets programme from Newcastle International Airport for this winter is just another example of that.

"With the addition of Malmo and Bratislava, along with our existing festive destinations already on sale for Winter 24/25 from Newcastle International Airport, customers are spoiled for choice when it comes to experiencing a European Christmas market this winter."

There will be a selection of four-star hotels available in the city to Jet2 customers.

The second new destination is Malmo in Sweden.

Flights will run twice a week on Mondays and Fridays from November 29 to December 23.

Customers will fly into Copenhagen Airport and take a direct train over the Oresund Bridge to Malmo.

There will be a range of hotels available to book.
