A teenage girl was hurt last night in a "hit and run" in Peterlee.
The police were alerted to the incident shortly before 8:05pm when a woman found a teenager who said she had been hit by a car.
Charlie Crawley, the girl's father, posted on social media appealing for dashcam footage or any witnesses.
He said: "Last night my daughter was a victim of a hit and run. Police are involved and investigating looking at CCTV.
"We know it was a male driver of a small white Hyundai.
"Luckily she escaped with torn ligaments and tendons from her foot and ankle. This is a zebra crossing at McDonalds in the town where it happened.
"I know a teacher stayed with her and got the police, I will be extremely grateful to her forever, I am actually going to personally thank her for her kindness.
