Darlington Borough Council has taken action to address persistent noise disturbances at a property in the town, following repeated complaints from local residents.
The council’s Environmental Health Team issued a Community Protection Notice to Jason Robert Greer of Wolsingham Terrace, after he failed to comply with a previous Community Protection Warning.
The notice required Mr Greer and any visitors to his property to stop causing unreasonable noise disturbances, particularly raised voices and loud music, which had been distressing nearby residents.
Despite these warnings, complaints continued, and noise monitoring equipment installed in a neighbouring property recorded evidence of loud music, shouting, and other disturbances, which persisted into the night and early morning.
On the basis of this evidence, a warrant was obtained from a Justice of the Peace, and noise-making equipment was seized from the property by the council’s Environmental Health Team.
Mr Greer was prosecuted and found guilty of failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice, the court fined and awarded costs against him of £1060 as well as granting the Council permission to dispose of the noise equipment.
