A popular café and farm shop near the A66 will close later this month after more than a decade in business.

Stoneygate Farm Shop and Café will serve its final meals and close its doors on October 27.

The popular rural venue, between Ravensworth and Richmond, about a mile from the A66, in North Yorkshire was opened by Malcolm and Bernadette Tennant in 2013.

But in a statement on Facebook they confirmed it was “with great sadness” they had decided to close.

They said: “It is with great sadness that we announce that the farm shop and café will close on 27th October 2024 after completing our final Sunday lunch service.

“We would like to thank our many loyal customers past and present who have supported us over the years and it’s been a pleasure to serve you during that time. We will miss you.

“We would like to thank our staff past and present who came on this journey with us and who have worked extremely hard during some tough times. We’ve had some great fun along the way. We will miss you guys too.

“We also have to give massive thanks to our network of fantastic local suppliers who have supported us from the beginning.

“It’s not the end of an era but the start of a new chapter for us, we would like to spend more quality time with our own children and grandchildren, and we’ll have more time to focus on our own well-being. We will continue to look after the land and look for new ways to how we can utilise the infrastructure we have developed and continue to farm the land and produce our own food with minimal impact on the environment.

“For the remaining two weeks, everything will carry on as normal. Customers having loyalty cards are welcome to come and redeem their points in the shop and or café and we also ask customers having any gift vouchers to please use them before we close.”
