A man wanted for a string of offences was arrested and a quad bike seized after the police helicopter was paged to Newton Aycliffe.
Residents reported seeing the police chopper over the town several times this week.
It has since been confirmed it was helping in the search for a wanted man, who police were looking for in connection with various offences.
He was arrested on Sunday (October 13) and taken into custody.
A suspected stolen quadbike was recovered.
A Newton Aycliffe police spokesperson said: “We know the use of the helicopter can cause a lot of concern amongst local residents, but its an invaluable tool in assisting the team deal with issues that matter to you all.”
