A woman is in serious condition and a young girl injured after being hit by a car.
The pair were hit by a grey Vauxhall Astra just before 5pm on Friday (October 11) evening.
Emergency crews including the air ambulance rushed to the scene on Longlands Road in Middlesbrough, where the car had been travelling towards Marton Road when the crash happened.
The woman, 32, and young girl were both taken to James Cook University Hospital.
The 32-year-old remains in a serious condition in hospital. The girl sustained scratches and bruises and was checked over and discharged.
Police closed the road for six hours with a crash investigation team working at the scene. It reopened at about 11pm.
Officers are now investigating and are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage of it, to come forward.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses and information including dashcam, CCTV or phone footage, as enquiries into a serious collision in Middlesbrough continue.
“Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, and any people who have dashcam, private CCTV or mobile phone footage are asked to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 195473.”
Locals were previously thanked for their patience while the road was closed.

An ambulance service spokesperson added: “We were called at 4.50pm on Friday (October 11) to reports of a road traffic collision on the junction of A172 and A1085 (Marton Road and Longlands Road) in Middlesbrough in which two people were injured.
"We sent two emergency ambulance crews and requested support from the air ambulance. Both patients were transported to James Cook Hospital for further treatment."
