A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged stabbing at a petrol filling station in the early hours of Saturday (October 12).
Police were called to Hollybush Shell service station, in Thornaby, at about 5.30am and found a man in his thirties with serious stab wounds.
He was taken to hospital where he is said to remain in a stable condition, with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
The Cleveland force said the 28-year-old suspect remains in police custody today (Sunday, October 13).
There was a large-scale police response to the report of the stabbing, with the service station, on Thornaby Road, closed and taped off while inquiries took place at the scene.
Forensic officers were seen combing the forecourt and the vicinity, conducting crime scene inquiries.
Three private vehicles were said to be within the taped-off cordon as investigations took place.
At the time, Cleveland Police issued a statement appealing for information.
It stated: “The incident happened at around 5.30am, and upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man in his thirties with serious stab wounds.
“The victim has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

“Officers remain at the scene and in the area while enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”
Despite the arrest reported today, the police appeal for information remains in place.
Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to officers, is asked to contact Cleveland Police via 101 and pass on any information to the control room quoting reference number SE24195824.
