A suspected drug driver was arrested after a two-car crash outside a busy Teesside hospital.

Emergency services were called to Marton Road, just outside the James Cook University Hospital, on Thursday (October 10) following a crash around 6.15pm. 

Following the incident - which involved a white Mercedes and a grey Audi - officers arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving and attempted section 18 assault.

Cleveland Police confirmed he remains in police custody - and is now appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch. 

The force said: "Officers are appealing for information and any relevant dash cam footage following a two-vehicle collision in Middlesbrough.

"The collision occurred on Marton Road in Middlesbrough outside James Cook Hospital at around 6.15pm on Thursday 10th October and involved a white Mercedes and a grey Audi.

"Thankfully no one was injured in the collision.
