Bosses behind a “vibrant” café in Darlington have announced it will be closing the doors after an “incredible” 18 months in town.

House of Flavour, which opened on Duke Street in May last year, is set to close its doors on Sunday, October 18, after owners made the “difficult decision” to move on.

It comes just months after the popular venue was put up for sale for £134,995 on GoGoGo, described as being in a prime location with “dedicated” clientele.

David Chadwick and Katie Miller released an emotional statement on Facebook on Thursday (October 11), thanking customers for their support and loyalty over the last 18 months.

However, the duo will be staying put in the town as they continue to serve up dishes at Darlington Market from the Fusion Mexicana and the & Gravy stands.

They also teased that House of Flavour’s manager Natasha will be branching out to launch a new venture in the market, with details yet to be revealed.

The Duke Street property remains on the market, describing the site as boasting “tremendous potential for growth and expansion”.

The news of the closure was met with sadness from Darlington foodies, with one person saying: “Such a shame! Loved going in as your food was lovely.”

Another added: “Good luck to you all in your new venture. I am sure you have bigger and better things waiting for you just around the corner.”

A full statement from the venue said: “We have some big news to share with you. After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to close House of Flavour as of Sunday, October 13, at 1pm, all bookings for this weekend still stand.

“Please come and visit us for your last chance at HoF! It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re so grateful to each of you for your support, loyalty, and love for our food over the last 18 months.

“Although we’re going our separate ways, this is not goodbye! You can still find us running Fusion Mexicana, in Darlington Market, where we will continue to serve up delicious flavours.

“Our amazing manager Natasha is also branching out to launch her own venture in Darlington Market! Details about Natasha’s new kiosk will be announced soon, but we know it’s going to be something special that you won’t want to miss.
