Three houses have had to be evacuated after a car crashed through the front window of a home late last night.

Between 12.30am and 1.30am, a four-door blue Audi smashed into the living room of a home on Brierton Lane, near Eskdale Road, in Hartlepool.

Currently, police officers are searching for the occupants of the vehicle, as they left the scene of the incident early this morning, abandoning their car.

The impact has caused a great deal of damage to the property and the house next door, with debris left all over the housing estate.

Police officers remain on the scene, and pictures from the scene show the car is still inside the property.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.
