A slow-to-learn motorist has lost his licence for four years after being caught over the drink drive limit by police twice in three days.
An alert off-duty officer spotted a suspected drink driver in a Tesco car park in Durham at the weekend.
The officer witnessed the man attempting to drive off from the car park, heading towards Langley Moor.
On nearing the vehicle it emerged the officer had arrested the same man three days previously for the same offence.
He was arrested at the time of his first offence and charged.
The man was awaiting his court date when the officer caught up with him for the second time.
Additional officers arrived and breathalysed the man, who said the last time he drank alcohol was the previous afternoon.
Despite that, he blew 90 on the breathalyser, almost three times the legal limit of 35.
