AN application for planning permission for one house, at land east of The Grange, Carlton Road, Carlton Miniott, near Thirsk, has been submitted to North Yorkshire Council.
The application site is located within the central portion of the settlement where it transitions into a more open character.
It is rectangular in form and extends to 0.32 ha. It comprises an area of grassland on the south side of the A61, with the road forming its northern boundary.

It is anticipated that the new dwelling will be a single storey property and will be sited to the west of the proposed new access, alongside the large brick storage building at The Grange.
The proposed development of one dwelling would be served by the same single point of access.
Development on the application site will help to screen the existing building at The Grange particularly when viewed from the east.
The small scale of the development would also ensure that sufficient gaps and open spaces remained in this part of the settlement.
