The heavy rain and flooding of recent days is expected to end with a sunny but chilly day today.

The Met Office think that the rain is over and that there will be sunny intervals throughout the day.

Temperatures have dropped with a maximum of 10C and wind speeds are expected to be moderate with 20mph gusts.

The sun is expected to set by 18:19pm.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A dry and bright day for many with a good deal of sunshine.

"Scattered showers along the coast with a northerly breeze making it feel cooler here. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

"Any showers along the coast fizzle out to see a dry evening with clear skies, leading to a fairly widespread grass frost. Isolated patches of fog in the west."
