Several events have been announced for Consett this autumn, with more set to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Here is a list of the events set to come to the County Durham town in October.

On October 11, at 7pm, Keith Fisher will deliver an illustrated talk on the history of sword making in Shotley Bridge.

The event, held in St Cuthbert’s Church Hall, will delve into the research conducted by Mr Fisher, a local historian.

He is also the author of 'The Crown and Crossed Swords', which focuses on the German sword-smiths in Shotley Bridge.

The following day, October 12, the Bounty Locker Halloween Market will take place at St Patrick's Church Hall from 1pm to 4pm.

After a brief pause in August and September, the market is set to return with a variety of vendors and activities.

On October 23, from 7pm to 9pm, The Steel Club will host the Consett Heritage Project – Ray Lonsdale Talk.

Renowned artist Ray Lonsdale will discuss his past designs and support a session where attendees can brainstorm ideas for a new steel statue for Consett.

October 25 will see The UK Rock Show at Consett Empire Theatre and Cinema.

From the producers of the popular Bon Jovi Forever ‘One Wild Night Tour’, the show promises a nostalgic journey back to the 80s heyday of classic rock.

The Halloween Spooktacular with Leadgate Boxing Academy will take place on October 26 from 5pm at Leadgate Community Centre.

Entry is £2, which includes a free hot dog and drink.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Glenroyd House Foodbank.
