A man has been reported for careless driving after a crash caused the closure of a busy Darlington road over the weekend.

Police closed the A66 between the junctions with the A67 at Morton Park and the A167 Grange Road (known locally as Reg Vardy Roundabout) following the crash just after midnight on Sunday (October 7).

The crash involved one vehicle and nobody was injured but the driver was reported for careless driving.

A full police statement reads: "Police were called shortly after midnight on Sunday (October 6) to reports of a one vehicle collision on the A66, near Darlington.

"Nobody is believed to have been injured. The driver was reported for careless driving.  

"The vehicle was recovered from the scene."
