A live music, dance and captivating puppetry event is set to begin at a County Durham castle this weekend - here's everything you need to know.
The Glittering North begins at Raby Castle on Saturday (October 12) promising a wacky and wonderful evening with everything from puppets of a boar with bristles to a giant illuminated horse with eight legs.
The region’s Norse and Viking heritage will be brought to life with figures from the past and will include The Riding School and Dutch Barn where people can hear tales of Norse gods and watch fire performers.
The castle's remodelled 18th-century Walled Garden is to be the site of the 'trail of the north,' encompassing a radiant, immersive space replete with photo opportunities.
Sophie Brown, sales and events manager at Raby Estate said: “The change from summer to autumn marks the start of cosy nights with hands warming round a mug of hot chocolate, fiery clusters of red and orange as the trees change colour and crunchy leaves beneath your feet.
