Building work on extension at Mainsgill Farmshop East Layton

Over the weekend, steel frames and heavy machinery were spotted at Mainsgill Farmshop on the A66 at East Layton, Richmond, which sparked suggestions of a new building at the venue.

Steel barriers outside Mainsgill (Image: SUBMIT) Despite first believing that the space would be used for storage, Mainsgill, which is a popular spot for locals to the area and also those that travel between Scotch Corner and Penrith on the A66, has confirmed that it is building work for its orangery area. 

In a video shared on its social media page at the end of September, Mainsgill showed HGVs and lorries delivering materials to the farm shop and the area that would be developed.

The video, which was captioned "Very exciting day today as the steelwork has arrived for our orangery extension," also showed all of the cars that were visiting on that day, which showed it as popular as ever. 

This development at Mainsgill comes after the success of its sunflower patch and pumpkin patch, while the farm shop has also seen a return of its Christmas decorations and store, which is located on the top floor.
