Hundreds stepped out to watch a historic carnival parade as part of one of the North East's most ancient festivals - here are a few pictures of the event, can you spot yourself?
It's undeniably an autumnal staple and a much anticipated yearly festivity. That's right - Houghton Feast was back once again this year for nine days of music, magic, and delight.
The annual event was originally conceived as a dedication festival to the parish church of St Michael & All Angels and includes everything from a fairground to a ceremonial Ox roast.
After kicking off on Friday (October 4), the main event of the weekend was of course the Carnival Parade with over 1,000 participants from local schools, riding motorbikes and much more.
People of all ages from across the region stepped out to wave and cheer on those taking part, waving at them and snapping pictures of their little ones taking part.
One of the big attractions, the fairground and games on Rectory Field on Dairy Lane will be open until October 12 but other events will be taking place across the town including in Houghton Library, Houghton Parish Church as well as a performance by the town's brass band.
Soaking up the atmosphere and watching the parade pass by was the Mayor of the City of Sunderland, Councillor Allison Chisnall.
"It has been absolutely amazing," she told The Northern Echo.
"This is my first year - I'll definitely be back and bringing the whole family. I don't know why I've missed it so many times before!"
Kate Welch OBE, Chair of Trustees at The Old Rectory is one of the co-organisers for the carnival parade and expressed how transformational the event really is for the town.
She said: "I think there is just something so magic about Houghton Feast."
Here are just a few pictures of the day - can you spot yourself?
