A County Durham McDonalds has been forced to close after a fire broke out this morning.
McDonalds on Surtees Road in Peterlee is closed for the foreseeable future after a fire broke out on site this morning (October 4).
Multiple firefighters were pictured at the scene of the restaurant beside the drive-thru as smoke poured out of part of the building.
The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed, and the chain has confirmed that the restaurant will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so.
A McDonalds spokesperson said: "Our Peterlee restaurant is currently closed following a fire. We can confirm everyone is safe and no one was injured.
"The Fire Brigade have dealt with the situation. We plan to reopen the restaurant as soon as it is safe to do so.”

A County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.55am today (October 4) to a fire at McDonald’s on Surtees Road, Peterlee.
“Two fire engines from Peterlee and one fire engine from Seaham attended the scene.
“Firefighters tackled the fire using breathing apparatus (BA), one hose reel, positive pressure ventilation and a thermal imaging camera.”
