A popular Yarm restaurant that opened just one year ago has been put up for sale - as its current owner bids goodbye to her “dream”.

Arabian Nights first opened on the town’s High Street, in the former Lost Property steakhouse, last September, going on to receive rave reviews for its “delicious” food.

However, the “thriving” venue has now hit the market with a £85,000 price tag as it looks for a new owner to operate "along the same lines" as the current owner, Egyptian chef Eman Boutros.

Speaking to The Northern Echo, Eman said she has had to put the venue up for sale due to family circumstances, which will soon see her travel back home.

Eman, who said she was sad to be moving on, explained: “The restaurant is doing very well. We worked really hard to do this, it was my dream.

“It is always busy - but family circumstances is why I have put it up for sale. I have to leave the country to go and look after my family.”

Arabian Nights currently has a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor and 4.6 on Google Reviews, with customers praising the “absolutely beautiful” food and “fantastic service with a smile”.

One person said: "Had lunch here today with my girlfriend and we weren’t disappointed. The reviews are all spot on about this place. The food was delicious and the portions generous, along with excellent service and really friendly staff."

Marketed by Christie & Co, the restaurant - which was completely revamped after being taken over from Lost Property - currently has a projected annual net turnover of £225,000 for 2024.

Specialising in Mediterranean cuisine, Arabian Nights serves up everything from lamb and chicken gyros to souvlaki chicken, moussaka, and kebabs.

The venue, which has 40 covers and a bar space, has a 10-year lease with eight years remaining. It also has an annual rent of £25,800.

The majority of the fixtures and fittings are owned outright and will be included in the sale, subject to an inventory.

The listing states: “Arabian Nights presents an excellent opportunity for an owner-operator to purchase a well-known and thriving restaurant and operate along the same lines as the current owner.

“Alternatively, an experienced operator, perhaps with multiple sites, could look to expand the current offer and run as a managed house.”
