Graham Michael (Chatton Close, Chester-le-Street)

Graham Michael, aged 44, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on October 2, 2024. He admitted to breaching a domestic violence protection order on September 30, 2024, at Chatton Close, Chester-le-Street, where he assaulted a woman. The breach occurred just six days after the original protection order was issued.

Michael was committed to prison for 19 days, with the court emphasising the serious nature of the offence.

Kurt Lewis Dilks (Jack Lawson Terrace, Wheatley Hill)

Kurt Lewis Dilks, aged 26, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on October 2, 2024. He pleaded guilty to carrying on business as a scrap metal dealer without authorisation between June 1, 2023, and July 13, 2023.

He was fined £133 and ordered to pay a £53 victim surcharge and £300 in costs. The court acknowledged his guilty plea when imposing the sentence, with a payment deadline of October 31, 2024.

Paul Britton (Mowden Terrace, Darlington)

Paul Britton, aged 38, failed to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on October 2, 2024. He was found guilty in his absence for breaching a Public Spaces Protection Order by begging on Union Street, Darlington, on June 8, 2024, in contravention of section 7(c) of the Public Spaces Protection Order – Darlington Town Centre number 1 of 2022.

Britton was fined £660 and ordered to pay a £264 victim surcharge and £150 in costs. The court issued a collection order, with the payment deadline set for October 29, 2024.

Pinky Nails Bar (Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland)

Pinky Nails Bar, located at Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on October 2, 2024. The business was found guilty of failing to comply with a community protection notice regarding waste accumulation at their premises on May 9, 2024.

The business was fined £333 and ordered to pay a £133 victim surcharge and £330 in costs, with a payment deadline of October 31, 2024.

Samantha Rush (Meadow View, Bishop Auckland)

Samantha Rush, aged 55, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on October 2, 2024. She pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a horse named Marvel by failing to address the animal's poor condition and weight loss between February 6, 2024, and February 29, 2024.

Rush was fined £576, ordered to pay a £230 victim surcharge and £300 in costs, and was disqualified from keeping horses for three years. Payment was set to commence on October 15, 2024.
