A man has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter after a man died following a "fall from a height" on a Stockton industrial estate. 

Emergency services were called to reports of an industrial accident at Blue House Point Road, on Portrack Grange Road, on Wednesday, October 2. 

An air ambulance reportedly landed in the Asda supermarket car park following the incident, which took place shortly before 4pm. 

The man sadly died at the scene - with Cleveland Police confirming that officers were working alongside the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to establish the full circumstances. 

Now, the force has confirmed that a  53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and is currently in police custody.

A full statement said: "Shortly before 4pm on Wednesday 2 October police were called to reports of an industrial accident involving a man falling from height at Blue House Point Road on Portrack Grange Road in Stockton.

"The man sadly died at the scene and his family has been informed. Officers are working alongside the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

"This morning (Friday, October 4) a 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and is currently in police custody.
