A man was hospitalised with "serious injuries" to his leg in a crash on the A181 near Durham yesterday.
The incident took place at 8pm between an Audi and a motorbike.
The rider was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment for his leg.
The driver of the Audi and her passenger were not believed to be injured.
Both were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of a collision between an Audi and a motorbike on the A181 just after 8pm yesterday (October 3).
"The motorbike rider suffered serious injuries to his leg and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
"The driver of the Audi and her passenger were not believed to have been injured and were both arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving."
