A man was brought to safety following a 'welfare incident' on a County Durham road on Thursday (October 3) morning.
Emergency services were called to North Road in Durham City at around 10.30am, following reports of a man in distress.
Police, ambulance crews, firefighters and rail crews were all called to the scene of the incident in Durham City, which saw parts of North Road blocked off for around an hour.
Rail services and bus services were delayed and cancelled during the incident, due to the proximity of it to both the train station and bus station.
Durham Police has since confirmed that a man was brought to safety and has been taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for the police force said: "Police were called at 10.30am this morning (October 3) to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man.
"Thankfully, the man was brought to safety and has been taken to hospital.

"The roundabout at North Road is now open to traffic."
A British Transport Police spokesperson added: "Officers were called to a viaduct near Durham railway station at around 10.30am today (3 October) to reports of a person in a precarious position.
"Officers attended, alongside paramedics and fire service. A man has now been taken to a place of safety."
A North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident this morning (3 October) on North Road, Durham, at 10:38am. We dispatched one hazardous area response team (HART) crew and one clinical team leader to the incident. The patient was transported for further treatment."
