Police and army bomb disposal teams sealed off a veterans housing centre in North Yorkshire on Wednesday (October 2) after a suspicious package was sent to the facility.
Emergency services were called to The Beacon on Marne Road in Catterick Garrison at around 7.50am, following concerns for the safety of the people in the building after a package was delivered to The Beacon.
Police were seen closing off the building, while army explosive disposal teams were also on the scene to deal with the situation.
Following the incident, North Yorkshire Police reassured members of the public that the package turned out to be clothing and that it was no wider threat to the public.
A spokesperson for the police force said: "Police were called at around 7.50am on October 2 by staff at a residential premises in Catterick Garrison after they were concerned about a package that had been delivered to the building.

"The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were also called. A cordon was put in place and people were evacuated from the building as a precaution.
"Thankfully the package was not suspicious and contained clothing.
"The staff did the right thing in reporting their concerns to the police and we are pleased that it turned out not to be more serious."
