A former North East garden centre which could be returned to its 'former glory' has been placed on the market for £950,000.
The former Callerton Garden Centre, on Stamfordham Road, Newcastle, is up for sale after 35 years, with estate agents Christie & Co handling the sale.
The 2.1-acre site includes a two-bedroom detached bungalow and other buildings, and currently has rental income from catteries and other tenants.
The estate agents said: "Ripe for development returning it to its former glory, or for alternative use."
The site is located near the A1M, A69, and is four miles from Newcastle airport.
It is also about a mile from a new housing development, which is expected to have 3,200 homes by 2030.

The agents said: "An excellent location for a garden centre but with potential for alternative new development business uses.
"This is likely to increase traffic (currently 8139 vehicles daily) on the B6324, a minor road linking the garden centre and Westerhope.
"This is a special location being readily accessible to the major road ways in the area yet enjoying tranquillity, with excellent rural views across countryside including toward the Tyne Valley to the South."
The property also has a derelict building, which was formerly a restaurant, and two buildings currently tenanted by a cattery business.
There is also garaging and outhouses, which were formerly used as a petting farm.
The estate agents said: "The property is in an area of huge recent expansion in residential properties making this an excellent time for someone to develop the site.
"Potentially, a new petrol station, a family food led pub, or garden centre and potentially residential housing, all subject to planning."
The agents added that the site has the potential for commercial or residential use subject to the relevant planning permissions.
They also noted that the current owner receives a rental income of £1,500 per month from the catteries combined, £800 pcm for the bungalow, £480 pcm for the static caravans, and £100 pw from a car service repair garage.
