Engineers are working to restore power to hundreds of homes in County Durham.
Electricity was cut off people in the West Cornforth area on Tuesday afternoon.
Northern Powergrid has said it hopes disruption caused by the unplanned power cut will be resolved this evening.
It expects to be reconnecting customers at 8.15pm.
