Disruption on the A1(M) into Darlington after a bridge was damaged is likely to last for several weeks.
This is bad news for morning commuters as there may be delays, particularly when the number of lanes closed is increased to two out of three.
A bridge parapet was damaged in a crash last Friday (September 27) and a lane has been kept closed ever since.
This morning there were delays of up to 25 minutes for commuters coming into Darlington.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "The nearside bridge parapet was damaged during a single-vehicle road traffic collision where the A1(M) crosses a local road near Broad Oak Farm.
"There has been a restriction to one lane out of three for traffic but the intention is to increase this to two once the correct measures have been taken in terms of safety.
"It could be a number of weeks until the parapet is fully repaired."
