STAFF at a North East building society are putting their best foot forward to support a local charity’s moonlit fundraising walk.
Darlington Building Society has a long history of supporting St Teresa’s Hospice, based in Darlington, and now staff have pledged their help for the charity’s upcoming Moonlight and Memories Walk.
Staff from the Building Society’s local branch on High Row, Darlington, will turn out on the night as marshals and event volunteers, while some of their colleagues will be raising money by taking part in the sponsored walk.
Lisa Sidgwick, branch manager, said: “Since I came into our Darlington branch, it’s been clear that St Teresa’s Hospice is something that the team are very passionate about. Most of our staff are local people, and the hospice is a vital resource in our community.
“Moonlight and Memories is a really important event for the hospice, and I’m looking forward to volunteering with the team, having fun, and helping to raise money.”
People are expected to travel from all over the area to take part in the 3.8km walk, which many use as a chance to remember loved ones and raise money in their memory. All walkers will receive a fundraising pack, a t-shirt, and glow wands to help brighten up the night.
Sam Sarsfield, hospice community fundraiser, said: “Darlington Building Society has been a valued friend to St Teresa’s Hospice for decades. We’re delighted that staff from their Darlington branch are backing our Moonlight & Memories Walk, and we’re looking forward to an exciting evening!”
The Moonlight and Memories Walk takes place in South Park, Darlington, on Friday, October 11. Registration is now open. For more information, visit the St Teresa's Hospice website or call 01325 254321.
