Keir Starmer will not be making an appearance at Consett's Christmas Market this year, despite a post in a local social media group picking up a lot of attention.
A post on the Facebook group The All New Consett & Stanley Chatterbox said that the Prime Minister was planning on visiting Consett for the County Durham Christmas Market on November 16.
It has been shared multiple times and has hundreds of comments.
The Northern Echo understands that the PM has no plans to visit Consett on that date and the Christmas Market in the town will actually be held on a different date entirely.

Misinformation in the form of this Facebook post was posted on September 29.
It comes amid criticism of Mr Starmer for his plans to cut winter fuel payments for pensioners and a row over clothing being donated to him by a wealthy ally.
Page moderator Jay Lillistone commented, "I approved this [post] just for the expected response this is gonna get…"
Posting a comment in response to the rumour, Liberal Democrat councillor Kathryn Rooney said, "Please note Keir Starmer will NOT be at our Christmas market, I’m getting messages asking if he will be there. The Christmas market is November 30."
Consett's inaugural farmers' market was held in the last month, with members of the public reporting a 'bustling' Middle Street and hailing the event as 'brilliant'.
