A former Bishop Auckland bank has hit the market with a £200,000 price tag.
The old HSBC bank on 21 Newgate Street, which has stood vacant since the bank pulled out of the town in 2022, has been put up for sale.
At the time, the national bank - which closed 69 locations in 2022 - said it had made the “difficult decision” to close the Bishop Auckland site “after careful evaluation”.
36% of customers were relying on branch-only banking and no other methods, with HSBC finally pulling down the shutters for good on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
Now, more than two years later, the property has been put up for sale.
Described as being in a “prominent location” in the town with “great transport links”, the 3,732 square foot building has two floors with a price of £54 per square foot.
The property - located opposite Lloyds Bank and Heron Foods - was built in 1877.
