An elderly cyclist has died after "becoming unwell" in a North Tyneside seaside town.
Police and paramedics were called to the A193, in Whitley Bay, on Sunday (September 29) after reports that a man in his 80s on a pedal cycle had become unwell.
Northumbria Police has confirmed that despite the efforts of medics - who attended the scene just after 1pm - the man sadly died a short time later.
His next of kin have been informed.
The force confirmed that there is not believed to be any third-party involvement in his death and a file will now be prepared for the Coroner.
