We tried the new location of one of the North East's most popular and viral breakfast sandwich chains - here's what we thought.

Pablo Eggs Go Bao last week (September 28) opened their doors in the courtyard of Mackies Corner in Sunderland - so we decided to have a look and see if it's as good as it's cracked up to be.

The chain, which operates in Byker and Whitley Bay, and even in Edinburgh is renowned for its breakfast sandwiches which are uniquely served in soft Japanese bao buns.

Having heard all of the hype for the sandwiches online and from my friends in Newcastle, I was equally hungry and intrigued to finally try it and see if it was all it cracked up to be.

Hidden inside Mackies Corner on the corner of Bridge Street, you can access the outdoor courtyard site with seating and overhead lighting through a short indoor alleyway walk.

Walking into the spacious courtyard I was joined by my cousin Chloe and my cocker spaniel Meg - as Pablo's is both dog friendly and even has a special item on the menu perfect for pups.

Speaking of the menu, there are a few variations of baos you can get for around £6.50. You can either get the complete breakfast bao containing a meat sausage patty or the vegetarian or vegan alternative.

Also available is there 'hashie box' which includes three generously sized hash browns as well as a 'doggy sausage' treat for your furry friends.

Having made up our minds, we went for a breakfast bao each, shared a hashie box, and tried an iced latte each. We also, of course, ordered a doggie sausage for Meg. Overall, this came to £27.20.

After a short wait, we picked up our food and took a seat where we tucked into the baos. Upon first inspection, they looked absolutely insane - like nothing I've seen before. I immediately was able to see the vision, and understood why it's so popular.

Tucking in, we were both very quickly impressed. The bao was soft and was well complimented by the crunch of the hash browns, smooth and creamy cheese, and soft egg brought together by a sausage patty.

I was hooked after the first bite. As for the hashie box, it had this delicious seasoning on it that I really cannot describe - sweet but with garlic notes that made them so moreish.

And finally, whilst I can't articulate or translate exactly what Meg thought of her treat, I think it's safe to say she enjoyed it.
