A special plea has been issued to find a home for a dog who has seen no interest from potential adopters for a year.

Tess, a six-year-old Mastiff cross has spent the last year in kennels with no perspective owners wanting to take her home, the RSPCA said.

The animal charity has launched an appeal to find her a new home, promising the “loveable goofball” is “guaranteed to make you smile”.

Possible owners are thought to have pulled out because of how strong she is.

Rebecca Cooper, RSPCA kennel supervisor, said: “She is a large, strong dog but is also full of love! She absolutely loves playing in water and is very loving and affectionate once she gets to know you. We just really want her to go to a home where she can play around and be comfortable.

“She is a big strong girl, so her new adopters would need to have the physical strength to walk her out and about.”

Her ideal home is said to be one with no pets or young children, and where she can be walked in quiet areas as she can be overwhelmed by other dogs.
