A man suspected of drink driving has been arrested after a car ploughed into a wall outside of a Yarm school.
Police and fire crews were called to Yarm High Street on Friday (September 27) evening after a black Audi crashed into the wall outside the Yarm School entrance gates.
The vehicle collided with the wall just before 11pm, leaving bricks and piles of rubble spewed across the path and busy road.
Cleveland Police has confirmed that a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. It is not known whether the man is still in police custody.
As previously reported, a cordon was erected across the road following the incident, with the road blocked off from the High Street up until the roundabout with The Spital and Worsall Road.
Several police vehicles were in attendance at the crash alongside two fire engines from Cleveland Fire Brigade - one from Yarm and one from Thornaby.
Pictures from the aftermath taken on Saturday morning show how the scene remains taped off, with cones surrounding the pile of rubble, which was blocking part of the path.
