A car ploughed into a brick wall outside a school entrance sparking a late-night 999 response.

Emergency services were called to Yarm High Street just after 11pm on Friday (September 27) following a one-vehicle crash outside of Yarm School.

A black Audi had smashed into the brick wall beside the entrance gates to the private school, leaving bricks and rubble spewed out across the nearby path and road.

A cordon was erected at the scene by fire crews, with the road blocked off entirely from Yarm High Street up until the roundabout with The Spital and Worsall Road.

Several police vehicles were in attendance at the crash, including one car that was parked on Worsall Road outside Yarm Medical Practice.

Motorists travelling down The Spital were forced to turn around at the police road closure, with pedestrians also unable to walk up past the scene on the High Street.

Images online show how the black Audi was left with its airbags deployed following the incident. It is not yet known whether anyone was injured.
