Here are 11 offenders sentenced at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ courts in the last week.

Their offences include drink driving criminal damage, smearing blood over a police cell and drug driving among those in court.

Matthew Coates, of Ida Place, Newton Aycliffe, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he smeared blood all over a police station cell on September 2 resulting in it needing a deep clean. The 44-year-old was fined £163 and compensation of £116. The man was also ordered to pay £147 towards court costs.

Terry Watson, of  North Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to stealing Lenor Unstoppable Fresheners, to the value of  £34.90 belonging to  The Range on September 25. The 49-year-old was given a six-month conditional discharge.

Anna Hewison, of Birch Way, Newton Aycliffe, pleaded guilty to drink driving on Greenfield Way, Newton Aycliffe, on July 28. The 42-year-old was banned from driving for 17 months, fined £115 and ordered to pay £135 in court costs.

Kyle Usher, of Grassholme Place, Newton Aycliffe, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour on August 11 and witness intimidation on August 23. The 28-year-old was given a six-month community order, told to attend 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days and carry out 70 hours of unpaid work.

Clare Galloway, of Lawrence Street, Darlington, pleaded guilty to drink driving on Blind Lane, Chester-le-Street, and driving a car likely to cause danger of injury after suffering damage to its light cluster and wheel arch on September 7. The 45-year-old was banned from driving for three years, fined £576 and ordered to pay £315 in court costs.

Paul Lawton, of Cheapside, Shildon, pleaded guilty to criminal damage after he smashed a small window of the main door of the Royal George pub on September 20. The 51-year-old was fined £80 and ordered to pay £117 in court costs.

Duane Eddy, of Weardale Street, Spennymoor, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of cocaine on May 22 when he was stopped in a Ford Transit van in Spennymoor. The 44-year-old was banned from driving for 16 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.

Alfie Thomas, of Harwood Court, Trimdon Grange, Trimdon Station, County Durham, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of cocaine, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance on Cleves Avenue, Ferryhill on February 12 this year. The 29-year-old was banned from driving for 16 months, fined £80 and ordered to pay £117 towards court costs.

Michael Laidman, of Skippers Meadow, Ushaw Moor, County Durham, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duties on September 12 in Durham. The 31-year-old was fined £200 and pay £175 towards court costs.

Mark Cox, of Kent Road, Consett, County Durham, pleaded guilty to breaching his criminal behaviour order on September 24 in Durham city without reasonable excuse when he was in possession of open and unopened can of alcohol. The 40-year-old was made subject of a six-month community order and told to attend five days of rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Karl Thornton, of Woodside Grove, Tantobie, Stanley, County Durham, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance on April 10 on Yoden Way, Peterlee. The 18-year-old was banned from driving for six months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge.
