A new cinema has officially opened and given members of the public the first glimpse into the new venue after several months of renovation works to prepare the building.
Savoy Cinemas, who have resurrected the old Empire venue on Princes Gate Shopping Park on Richmond Road, opened on Friday (September 27) with a fresh look.
The cinema's reopening coincides with the release of some of the year’s most anticipated movies including the Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, along with Transformers One, The Wild Robot and Venom: The Last Dance - all set to hit the screen in October.
Ahead of the official opening, new signage on the cinema was put up on Thursday (September 26), with the inside of the cinema polished and the final touches added - in preparation for cinema lovers to visit the venue once again.
General Manager Rhys Fry, who has relocated from the company’s Corby location, said: “My team and I are thrilled to be involved in the reopening of the former Empire Cinema, which is opening just in time for an exciting lineup of blockbuster releases for the rest of the year.
"We have a dedicated team eager to deliver the Savoy experience to the people of Catterick and the surrounding areas."
Over the past two months, the Savoy team has been preparing for the cinema's reopening, including the installation of new laser projection and sound systems which will enhance the overall cinematic experience.
Initially, four screens will reopen with the existing Empire seating, while the other three screens will be enhanced to introduce luxury seating options which will include faux leather rocker seats, electric recliners and double sofas.
