A Darlington pub that closed less than six months after it reopened has hit the market.

The Three Crowns, on Archer Street, called last orders on August bank holiday weekend, with bosses blaming both rising costs and a lack of punters.

The pub first closed in June 2023 when then-owners Admiral Taverns said it believed the venue had no "long term, sustainable future" - and it was ten months before it reopened in March this year after being taken over by new owner Lewis Metcalfe.

And now, just a month after calling last orders, the pub has been listed on the market to lease, with a price tag of £22,000 per year.

Details on the listing, marketed by Parker Barras, remain sparse - although it notes that a two-bedroom apartment is included alongside the "newly fully refurbished pub".

Once the "readily available" property is snapped up, it will be let on a new lease for a term to be agreed.

The Northern Echo previously reported how the community was "chuffed" to see the pub reopen again in March with a "community feel" and string of game nights including pool on a Thursday and darts on a Friday.

At the time, Lewis said it was a "great opening" and that people "seemed really happy that the pub is back open again".
