Armed police descended on a Billingham street this morning, blocking the road and diverting motorists.
There are reports of over 10 police cars attending an incident near the intersection of Wolviston Road and Station Road. Eyewitnesses say that some officers were armed with guns.
Cleveland Police have reassured the public, saying that there is no threat to the wider public and that the incident is "isolated".
Where has the incident occurred?
Police swarmed Wolviston Road, near the intersection of Station Road, in Billingham. Reports from residents say much of the activity was near the JET garage.
Currently, live reports from AA Traffic Maps show a small amount of congestion around Wolviston Road, Station Road, and Cheviot Crescent.
What have the police said?
A spokesperson from Cleveland Police said: "Members of the public may have witnessed police attending an incident in the Wolviston Road area of Billingham earlier today (Sunday, September 22).
"Cleveland Police would like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider public."
