The A179 has been closed following a two vehicle crash outside a popular Hartlepool pub.
The incident happened near the Raby Arms pub.
Officers are advising members of the public to avoid the area.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Please be aware that the A179 in Hartlepool near to the Raby Arms pub is currently closed while officers deal with a two-vehicle-collision.
"Please avoid the area."
An AA spokesperson said: "Partially blocked and queueing traffic due to crash on A179 both ways from A19 (Sheraton junction) to Hart Village Turn Off."
