A man has appeared in court charged with wounding after a man was seriously hurt in an alleged stabbing incident yesterday.
Luke Gappy of Acklam Road, Middlesbrough, appeared before Teesside Magistrates' Court following an incident in Ruskin Avenue, Acklam, at 2.30am on Thursday (September 19).
The 29-year-old was one of two people arrested after a 37-year-old man was taken to James Cook University Hospital.
During a brief hearing today (Friday, September 20), Gappy was accused of wounding with intent. He was not asked to plead to the charge and he was remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Crown Court on October 18.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson earlier said: "A man has been charged after a report that a man was stabbed on Ruskin Avenue, Middlesbrough, around 2.30am on Thursday 19th September.

"A 37-year-old man was taken to James Cook University Hospital with serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening. He remains in hospital at this time whilst receiving treatment.
"A 29-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court today, Friday 20th September.
"A 27-year-old man also arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of a class C drug remains on conditional police bail."
