A North East actress who starred in the original series of Balamory has said she is 'thrilled' that the show is making a comeback.
The much-loved children's series, Balamory, has been re-commissioned for two new series on CBeebies, set to air from 2026.
Kim Tserkezie, known for her role as Penny Pocket in the original series, expressed her excitement about the news.
Speaking to the BBC she said: "It’s so exciting. I was contacted the day before the news broke, so I had 24 hours, not being able to say anything.
"It’s just absolutely fantastic. I am absolutely thrilled for the Balamory fans who have campaigned for this for a very long time.
The actress from Heaton in Newcastle has fond memories of filming the original series.

She said: "So many brilliant memories, we just had an absolute blast working on that show.
"The scripts were great, they were so funny, to get to work and act with those other brilliant cast members and crew, all the hard work that went into creating the magic that is Balamory.
"Penny Pocket was so important to me because it was great to play a character and have fun with everyone else."
When asked if Penny Pocket will be part of the reboot, she said, "I think there are lots of details to be worked through which will unfold over the coming months.
"The news is still unfolding for us cast members at the moment as well."
This resurrection has brought joy to Balamory fans who look forward to the series return.
Filming will be held in Scotland, possibly the original location, Tobermory in Mull, or another Scottish location such as Rothesay.
Kate Morton, head of commissioning 0-6 for BBC Children’s and Education, stated: "A whole new generation will discover and enjoy Balamory as we bring families together with this new update for CBeebies.
"It will be a real treat for parents who grew up with the show to now introduce their little ones to the brightly coloured world getting to know a host of old and new characters together."
