LNER has announced that train tickets will be available for passengers in County Durham, North Yorkshire, and Teesside for as little as £5 up until the start of 2025.

The rail company revealed its cheap ticket sale on Thursday (September 19) which will give people cheap tickets for customers.

Bishop Auckland, Darlington, Durham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Northallerton and York are just several locations where people can travel using Northern's cheap train tickets.

Customers can now plan their travel for the festive period, with tickets being released for many journeys between Friday, December 20, 2024 and Friday, January 3, 2025.

Here are some of the locations where customers can travel by train for as low as £5:

  • Darlington
  • Durham
  • Northallerton
  • York
  • Newcastle
  • Sunderland
  • Skipton
  • Middlesbrough
  • Harrogate

Traditionally journeys between London King’s Cross, Yorkshire, Newcastle and Scotland are most popular.

The best value LNER fares are available when booked direct on the LNER website or app.

There is no booking fee, customers can select their preferred seat and receive live journey alerts both on their mobile and through a special QR code they can scan onboard.
