PLANS for the change of use from a social club and manager's flat to supported living accommodation for up to 13 young people aged 16-21 years old have been submitted to Durham County Council.

The plans include minor external and internal alterations to the site at 16 Croft Street, Crook.

The overarching vision for this development is to provide professional support for individuals who may not have experienced the most favourable circumstances early in life.

This proposed initiative represents a unique opportunity for vulnerable individuals to embark on a positive journey into adulthood, actively contribute to society, and receive support from dedicated on site staff, the YMCA and the local community.

The proposed development will only provide safe and secure housing for young people who are classed as requiring ‘low support’ needs.

The design of the proposed development provides adequate bedroom space, private en-suite bathrooms, and an on-site office for 24 hour support to be provided to residents on site.
