A Durham pub has shut for a month of renovation that will see it kitted out with a stage and sound system fit for live music performances.

The Three Bridges pub, located on Durham's North Road, shut earlier this month as £250,000 renovation works got underway to "upgrade our facilities, aiming to enhance the customer experience".

The popular drinking hole is expected to reopen in October, with a new schedule of events to match their fresh interior.

The comprehensive refurbishment will see the installation of "state of the art lighting", and the creation of a new stage area for live music performances.

The investment will also feature new seating areas, works on the beer garden to provide a "more comfortable and inviting atmosphere for locals", and a set of dartboards installed to boost the pub's sports offering.

Beginning in October, the pub will host a pub quiz every Monday night, and the pub will host a student night every Wednesday.

"Our goal is to create a vibrant and welcoming environment where people can enjoy great food, drinks, and entertainment. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in October to see the transformation."
